What do you mean by 'creativity'?

Creativity is a wide subject with many definitions. One definition is that creativity is the process of generating new ideas, making new connections and gaining new perspectives.

How would I benefit from attending the course?

Six Thinking Hats® - Frequently Asked Questions

Are there real hats?

There can be, but usually people use the concept of six different hats representing six different modes of thinking, rather than having six physical hats! The modes of thinking and the differences between them become real very quickly.

How would I benefit from attending the course?

You will gain a clear understanding of how to use different modes of thinking to generate many more perspectives and facilitate much more productive meetings.

What do each of the coloured hats represent?

As you would expect, the majority of the course is spent answering this question in detail. However, the short answer is as follows:

Blue hat - agenda setting, process
White - facts, information, figures, data
Green - creativity
Red - emotion, feelings, hunches
Yellow - logical positive
Black - logical negative

What is 'lateral thinking'?

Lateral Thinking is the term coined by Dr Edward de Bono to describe a way of thinking that is distincly different to the dominant thinking style that most of us use most of the time, logical thinking. The term has become synonymous with creativity but in fact refers here to a systematic approach to arriving at new perspectives and ideas.
