Being offered or given the position of line manager doesn’t automatically make you an effective line manager. Changing the focus of your day to day work from just yourself to the performance of others is one of the biggest shifts we make in our working lives. The increased pressure and expectations can be overwhelming – even when you have more than proved yourself in your previous position.
Becoming an effective line manager needs a different mindset and additional skills. Recognising that every person and every position are different, our line manager training courses are, above all, practical. The courses are usually split into two distinct parts: focusing on yourself and focusing on others. Most often we run a two day course but this can be tailored to meet your organisation’s particular needs.
The first part is all about you! The roles and responsibilities of a successful line manager, different management styles and how to plan, organise and communicate effectively.
In the second part we shift the focus to the people you are managing. How are you going to motivate them, understand them, coach them and manage their performance? The emphasis is on providing you with practical tools and approaches that you can put to immediate use.
Moving into a line management role should be exciting and positive. Too often managers are left to get on with it. If you want your line managers to thrive in their new roles, the time to act is NOW.
